Concordia-Chicago proudly participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), a statewide agreement that allows students to easily transfer credits for previously earned courses from an Illinois community college, including the City Colleges of Chicago, Illinois’s largest community college system.
This agreement allows you to seamlessly apply your general education credits or a full associate degree toward an online accelerated bachelor’s degree, ensuring a clear pathway to completion.
For further information and a list of participating institutions, please visit the Illinois Articulation Initiative page.

An articulation agreement is a formal partnership between two educational institutions that outlines how credits transfer from one school to another. These agreements ensure a seamless transition for students, helping them maximize their previously earned credits and stay on track to graduate on time. At Concordia-Chicago, our articulation agreements—especially with Illinois community colleges—simplify the transfer process, saving you time and money while ensuring your hard work counts toward your degree.
CUC requires a minimum grade of D- for general education courses that are not prerequisites for other courses and requires a minimum grade of C for prerequisite courses. If a student has completed only part of the Core Curriculum or is transferring from a non-IAI participating institution, transfer credit for completed coursework will be awarded the same as if the Core had been completed. However, the remaining coursework necessary to complete the bachelor’s degree will be determined according to Concordia-Chicago’s current practices and policies.
Concordia-Chicago recognizes proficiency and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) credit, and will apply it toward the IAI General Education Core Curriculum requirements as appropriate.
You will be required to submit a completed online application [link] and official transcripts of all college coursework from each institution attended.
