English Language Requirements for International Students

Concordia University Chicago is proud to accept qualified students from around the world. Please review the requirements below for English language proficiency. 

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 72 (internet-based)
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of at least 6.0
  • Password Test score of at least 6.0
  • Pearson Test of English score of at least 61
  • Proof of successful completion of Level 112 at an ELS Language School or certificate of Completion of Program from an English Language Institute (ELI), along with a recommendation of the program director
  • Duolingo score of 90 or above
  • Michigan test score of 85
  • King George International College (KGIC) English for Post-Secondary Education (EPE) final proficiency test score of 75% with a passing class score of 80.

International applicants who have earned an advanced degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States, or students from an international English-speaking country or university (in which the lingua franca is English) need not submit English language scores.  Students that earned a degree from a school outside of the U.S. must submit a letter from the Registrar’s Office at the university where the degree was earned.  The letter needs to state that the primary language of the school is English.
